Vijay Hazare Trophy 2015, Day 2 Round-up: Jadeja shines in a last over thriller
Riding high on their victory against Assam yesterday, Tamil Nadu continued their winning streak by beating Mumbai by 26 runs in a Group A clash of the 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Baba Indrajith and Baba Aparajith starred for TN with their half-centuries, as they scored 60 and 77 respectively while Dhawal Kulkarni picked up 3 wickets for Mumbai. Although Akhil Herwadkar hit an 86-ball 107, Mumbai fell short of the target in the end.

In another Group A game, Punjab were bundled out for 238 courtesy Ravi Kiran’s 4/33 but managed to restrict Hyderabad to 182/9 thereby beating them by 56 runs.
Mayank Siddana top-scored with 64 for Punjab, while Yuvraj Singh contributed 36. In reply, Hyderabad could manage only 182/9, with one batsman retired hurt, as Siddharth Kaul picked up 5/32.

Moving over to Group B, Gujarat easily overcame Jharkhand’s challenge, as they beat them by six wickets in a reduced 47-over per side match. MS Dhoni top-scored with 44 for Jharkhand, but they could manage only 177/7 in their designated 47 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each for Gujarat. In reply, the Gujarat batsmen strolled to the target with 6.2 overs to spare, with PK Panchal top-scoring with 62.
Brief Scores: Jharkhand 177/7 (Dhoni 44, Patel 2/30) lost to Gujarat (toss) 175/4 (Panchal 62, Nadeem 2/36) by six wickets.
Karnataka made 242/9 against Haryana with Suchith top-scoring for them with 46 and restricted their opponents to 204 thereby winning the game by 39 runs. Haryana’s RM Dagar remained unbeaten on 96, but couldn’t find enough support at the other end.

In a low-scoring game in Group C, Vidarbha beat Delhi by 18 runs after the latter were bowled out for 145 in reply to Vidarbha’s 163. Faiz Fazal top scored with 83 for Vidarbha while Ishant Sharma picked up 5/21 for Delhi.
But the Delhi batsmen could not take advantage of their bowlers’ performances as they were dismissed for 145, with only Unmukt Chand putting up a fight with his valiant 57.

Contrary to the above, in a high-scoring clash at Rajkot, Ravindra Jadeja sparkled with the bat and the ball for Saurashtra, as he hit a magnificent 134, in their total of 340/5 against Madhya Pradesh, and picked up the last wicket in the last over of the game to hand Saurashtra the victory.
Responding to the mammoth total, Madhya Pradesh came close but weren’t able to cross the line as Jalaj Saxena’s sparkling run-a-ball 133 went in vain. MP were dismissed for 334, hence losing the game by 6 runs.
