Vijay Hazare Trophy: Railways shoot out Rajasthan for 35, second lowest List A total in Indian cricketing history
Rajasthan slumped to the second lowest List A score ever in Indian cricketing history today, getting all out for 35 runs in a Central Zone Vijay Hazare trophy match against Railways.
Opting to bat first at Vidarbha Cricket Association ground, Nagpur, Rajasthan were soon 4 down for just 1 run on the board. With the exception of Arjit Gupta, no other batsman got past the double-digit mark as pace bowlers Anureet Singh – who represents Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Amit Mishra, given extended spells by captain Mahesh Rawat, picked up 5 wickets each to dismiss the opposition in just 15.3 overs.
Railways chased down the target in 5.3 overs, losing Asad Pathan to Pankaj Singh in the process. The win with 267 balls to spare is also the biggest margin for a List A victory in India.
This is the third consecutive loss for Rajasthan in the tournament, while Railways maintained their supremacy in the group winning 4 out 4.
The lowest ever List A total (18 all out) was recorded by West Indies Under-19s in 2007 against Barbados. Sri Lanka’s best bowling effort that restricted Zimbabwe to 35 is the lowest international team total on the list. Among Indian sides, Saurashtra’s 34 all out against Mumbai in 2000 comes 6th in the all-time list.
