Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been hitting centuries at will for some time now and seems like breaking records every other day. Recently, the top-order batsman became the first Asian captain in the history of world cricket to win a Test series against the Kangaroos in their own backyard. After the resounding success in Australia, Kohli will be looking to lead the Indian team to second away ODI series win on a trot.

The five-match ODI series against the Kiwis will kickstart on 23rd January. The top-order batsman will be hungry for more runs after the recent series in Australia. Kohli has broken a few records which were held by many great players in the recent past and is on the verge of breaking one of Virender Sehwag's record in New Zealand.

Sehwag, who was the most destructive opener in his days, has scored six centuries against the Black Caps and jointly holds the record for most ODI tons against the Kiwis along with Ricky Ponting. The Nawab of Najafgarh is a revolutionary figure in the ODI cricket for India as he was known for his aggressive batting.

The Indian captain only needs two more centuries against the Kiwis to go ahead of Sehwag. Virat Kohli is equal alongside greats Sanath Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar as he has scored five centuries against New Zealand. The current Indian skipper has 1154 runs in 19 innings and is only three runs behind Sehwag, who has 1157 runs against the Kiwis in 23 innings.

Kohli has five chances in which he needs only four more runs to become the second-most successful Indian batsman in the history against New Zealand. The Master Blaster is at the top with 1750 runs to his name.

With the form Kohli is in, it is very much possible that he can break Sehwag's record for the most number of centuries against the Kiwis. If Kohli scores two centuries in this series, it will not only take him to the top of the ladder but also increase India's chances of winning the second consecutive away ODI series.
