It has been a disappointing last few days as no play has been possible due to persistent rain and wet outfield conditions but the Indian team members especially the captain-coach duo of Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli took their time out to meet the former West Indies legend Sir Garfield Sobers and the Indian Test skipper was especially delighted after meeting the legend.

It was the 125th-anniversary celebrations of the Queen’s Park Cricket Club at Port of Spain where the Indian cricket team met Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Everton Weekes and Gordon Greenidge.

BCCI posted pictures from their official Instagram handle with a caption, “A meeting to remember! Greats of the game Sir Garry Sobers, Sir Everton Weekes, Gordon Greenidge, India Head Coach @anil.kumble and Test captain @virat.kohli were all under one roof at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain.”

The aggressive Indian skipper wasn’t far behind either in expressing his excitement on meeting Sobers. Kohli also posted a picture with Gary Sobers and said he has been always inspired by the legendary figure. Kohli admitted that he was blessed to get the opportunity to meet a legend like Gary Sobers.

He wrote “What a moment when you go to meet the great man and he says ‘i was looking forward to meet you’. Absolutely in awe of this great man. Sir Garfield Sobers. Feel blessed to have had a conversation with him. #grateful”.

Team India also met Sir Vivian Richards prior to the series. The former batsman was in awe of Virat Kohli and said his will to succeed at the highest level separates him from the rest.

The Indian Test skipper has been in a scintillating form of late, amassing runs at will in each and every format and his aggressive nature on the field has strongly reflected on the performance of the Indian team in the ongoing Test series against the West Indies.

Though the current West Indies team lacks depth and experience but still winning abroad is no mean achievement. He has been pivotal in India gaining an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and also became the 1st Indian skipper to win more than one Test in a Test series in West Indies.

India became the No.1 Test team earlier this week after Australia got thrashed at the hands of Sri Lanka. However, with hardly any play was possible in the first 3 days of the last Test between India and West Indies it looks bleak that India would retain their position. In case the match ends in a draw arch rivals Pakistan will climb to the top of the ladder for the first time in their cricketing history.
