Virat Kohli to lead RCB
Virat Koli will succeed Daniel Vettori as the captain of IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kohli’s appointment came after the productive IPL 6 auction, where the team managed to add a few proficient bowlers and all-rounders to maintain the balance of the line-up, thereby strengthening the overall core of the team.
Franchise owner Dr. Vijay Mallya said – “We are delighted to announce Virat as our captain. His hunger to learn, lead, motivate and set an example is unquestionable.”
Virat Kohli‘s overall figures in the IPL:
Runs: 1639
Average: 28.25
Highest Score: 73*
Strike Rate: 119.28
Apart from being the 11th highest run-scorer in IPL history and the 3rd highest run-scorer in Champions League T20 history, Virat has hit 154 fours and 49 sixes, and has 8 fifties to his name.
On being asked about what he had to say on the news of his new job, Virat said – “Glad to be appointed captain of RCB! It’s a great feeling… (From) being drafted as an U-19 in 2008 and now to be considered to lead the side of great players, is a big honor.. I thank the owners for reposing their faith and I am looking forward to the challenge and the responsibility to carry the team to greater heights.”
