Australia v India - Game 3

Kohli had a special message for Afghanistan cricket

What's the story?

In a video posted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on social media platform Twitter, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli sent a heartfelt message to the Afghanistan cricket team.

In the video, Kohli was deferential towards the Afghani cricketers and praised the motivation they have shown and the passion with which they have played over the past few years or so.

He also congratulated them for successfully organising the Shpageeza T20 league despite the suicide bomb blast near the stadium during the tournament.

In case you didn't know...

A suicide bomber detonated a bomb outside the stadium in Kabul during the match between the Boost Defenders and the Mis-E-Ainak Knights on September 13.

Despite the bomb, the tournament continued with aplomb with fans flocking the stadium for every match.

The details:

Kohli had a lot of things to say about Afghanistan cricket as he heaped praise on them.

“I want to congratulate you for your T20 tournament and also wish you all the very best for the future and the journey you’ve had in your cricket so far,” said Kohli in the video.

“It’s been amazing to watch and I’ve been always following to see what you guys have been doing. I can see the passion in you especially when the cricketers play so I think the same kind of passion is shared by the people back home as well. Always remain true to yourself and success will come to you surely. Whatever you do, do it with full passion and work really hard to reach towards your goal,” he said in his wonderful message to the cricketers," he continued.

What's next?

Afghanistan will take on Hong Kong in the ICC Intercontinental Cup from October 20-23 at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok in Hong Kong.

Author's take:

A heartwarming message from one of the world's best batsman would surely motivate the newcomers in international cricket.

The transformation which the Afghanistan cricket team has gone through over the past few years has been nothing short of exemplary.

The success they have achieved is commensurate with the hard work they have put in. Their hard work was also credited with them achieving official Test status by the ICC. They will surely go a long way and start challenging the top sides very soon.
