The memorable NatWest Trophy Final that India won against England 14 years ago on this Day was by far one of the greatest cricket matches ever played. It was so charming people still talk about it. On the 14th anniversary of the match, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag tweeted and compared Sourav Ganguly with superstar Salman Khan.

Sourav Ganguly, the erstwhile captain of Team India, celebrated by swinging his jersey in the air after India achieved a mammoth target of 326 in a nail-biting match. Sourav took off his shirt, which is a regular phenomenon in a Salman Khan movie.

Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly gave the perfect start to the Indian team after England scored 325 runs capitalising on the centuries made by Marcus Trescothick and skipper Nasser Hussain. Openers Sehwag and Ganguly were dismissed on 45 and 60 runs respectively.

India were 106 for 0 before the start of the 15th over but lost 6 wickets in the next 40 runs they scored. The ‘Men in Blue’ were struggling on 146 for 5, but then, two youngsters showed class and put up a 121-run stand and made the contest even. Yuvraj Singh got out on 69, but Mohammad Kaif scored an unbeaten 87 to see India through to a historic win.

As the match ended, Indian’s present in the dressing room and in the stands was overwhelmed. Skipper Sourav Ganguly’s reaction showed how much the win meant to him and the team. Earlier that year when India lost to England at home, Andrew Flintoff was seen topless and waving his shirt in the Wankhede Stadium.

Sourav Ganguly had given the perfect ‘tit’ for the ‘tat’. Some critical comments may have been made regarding the incident, but Indians cherished it like ‘sweet honey’. Indeed, it was ‘Dadagiri’ at its best.
