Virender Sehwag dropped for last two Test matches
Virender Sehwag has been dropped from the Indian squad for the remaining two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played at Mohali and Delhi respectively.
India has retained 14 out of 15 players selected for the first two Tests and no replacement for Sehwag has been announced yet.
The former vice-captain has been in horrendous form for the last 18 months and his axe should not come as a major surprise. While Murali Vijay, Sehwag’s opening partner, scored a fine 167 in Hyderabad, Sehwag has totaled only 27 in his three innings, batting with spectacles.
After his 117 against England in the first innings of the Ahmadabad Test way back in November last year, he has scored only 163 runs in 9 innings with an average of 18.11.
This is what Sehwag had to say on his official twitter account:
Will continue to work hard for my place in the team. I trust my game and am confident that, “I’ll be back.” ‘Best wishes to the team.
