Virender Sehwag dubs Virat Kohli the most dangerous batsman in the world
One of the finest and most destructive openers of all time, Virender Sehwag, has reportedly hailed Virat Kohli as the most lethal batsman in world cricket at present. The iconic cricketer said this while attending a function for a radio channel.
"There are a lot of batsmen, but at the moment, I think, Kohli is the most dangerous of them all. There is AB de Villiers, David Warner, but the way Virat is playing, the way he is scoring runs — he scored two hundreds in this IPL, he is the most dangerous at the moment," he was quoted saying.
Virat Kohli came into the Indian team while the dashing opener was pretty much on top of his game and their pair is remembered best for the devastating 203-run partnership they put together against Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup.
Sehwag also expressed his opinion on the comparisons being made between Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. He said, "No one should compare two cricketers. People used to compare me with Tendulkar, me with Viv Richards, that’s not fair. The era is not the same. I don’t think we should compare Kohli with Tendulkar."
About India's chances of playing host to a day-night Test, the veteran who played 104 Tests said, "There is no clarity about day-night Test yet. It’s better to comment after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announces it. Most people want to see day-night Tests. We have seen Australia-New Zealand play one. We too want to witness it."
Virender Sehwag, who played his last IPL season for the Kings XI Punjab, has taken over the role of a mentor with the team this season. Despite the team's poor performance, the legendary cricketer has garnered praise from team members for helping them out with their game.
