Virender Sehwag looking forward to face Sourav Ganguly

Sehwag is the captain of Gemini Arabians in MCL

The Masters Champions League (MCL) is on the cards and the cricketing fans all around the world are eager to witness the masters in action again. The MCL will be played in UAE. The players’ complete list has been published already. Indian batting legend Virender Sehwag has been named as the captain of Gemini Arabians. Sehwag, who recently retired from international cricket had never played a single international match in Sharjah, wants to make up for this by hitting sixes there.

In a recent interview, Sehwag talked about how excited he is to play in UAE. He said, “I am very excited to be playing in the UAE. I’ve never played international matches except a few IPL matches. So I am looking forward to MCL and am very excited to play in Dubai and Sharjah, especially Sharjah where most One Day Internationals have been played. Since I played no international matches in Sharjah, I am excited to play for MCL there and will try and hit the ball out of the park.”

My name is enough for other teams: Sehwag

When asked about a threatening message to the other teams in MCL, the “Nawab of Najafgarh” went all guns blazing and said that his name is enough for a threatening message. He said, “My name is enough for other teams, so I don’t need to give any message. I will try to score as many runs as I can try and win matches for Gemini Arabians,”

Looking forward to playing against Sourav Ganguly: Sehwag

The 37-year-old is eager to take on Libra Legends as it will be led by his former national captain Sourav Ganguly. He said,  “Personally, I am looking forward to the first game (against Libra Legends) as I am playing against Sourav Ganguly. He was my ex-captain and he knows everything about me and I know everything about Sourav, so hopefully that game will go in a good manner and people of UAE will see some competitive cricket on the first day.”

When asked about the combination of his team as many big names are present in the squad. The hard-hitting batsman explained his game plan. He said, “Our team’s strength will be around our batting with Richard Levi, Kumar Sangakkara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brad Hodge and Jacques Rudolph. These are good batsmen and anyone can win the game for the team. In bowling, I have two legends playing with Muttiah Muralitharan and Saqlain Mushtaq - and apart from their spin, we have decent pacers like Graham Onions and Kyle Mills and Rana Naveed.”

Sehwag was hopeful about his players and team combination to make a mark on MCL. He added, “Hopefully the combination which is going to play will deliver on that day. So everyone has to give their hundred percent,”
