Virender Sehwag's funny retweet on Irfan Pathan's playing chances under MS Dhoni
Swashbuckling Indian opener Virender Sehwag surely knows how to tickle the funnybones. His one-liners have become famous and sometimes his words are as outrageous as his strokes were. Once a bowler’s nightmare, Sehwag made a huge name for himself in the commentary arena in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 with his impeccable sense of humour. Recently, he retweeted in reference to the curious case of Irfan Pathan under MS Dhoni’s leadership in the IPL.
Ever since Irfan Pathan has started to play under the leadership of MS Dhoni in the IPL, he has featured in only two games. Yes, you read it right. The all-rounder was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in last year’s auction and he didn’t play a single game in that tournament. He had an injury at the beginning but ended up warming the bench even after making a recovery. This season he was bought by the new franchise Rising Pune Supergiants and he has played only two games so far.
To add to Pathan’s woes, he has only bowled a single over in those matches and things became worse in Pune’s last match against Kolkata Knight Riders when Pathan was involved in a mix-up with his skipper MS Dhoni which cost him his wicket. Actually, the hapless all-rounder had to sacrifice his wicket for his skipper and Dhoni shouting at him wasn’t the best for the side.
However, one Twitter user had a funny take on the episode as he posted an adorable picture of Dhoni and his daughter Ziva with the child pointing one finger towards her father. The user captioned the image, using the reference of Pathan. Sehwag then retweeted the image.

Pathan, who was one of the key players in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winning squad, hasn’t played for India since 2012 and things are not looking extremely bleak for him as he is not getting enough chances in the IPL to prove his mettle.
Dhoni has baffled everyone with his decision of not giving enough chances to an experienced campaigner like Pathan. The all-rounder was the highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy (domestic T20 competition) this season.
Irfan’s old teammate Virender Sehwag surely knows the use of humour to put forward his message.
