Virender Sehwag's kind gesture helps a farmer's son get an artificial limb

Take a bow, Virender Sehwag

One of the talking points among the cricket fans these days is the usage of Twitter by former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag. You can see him wish people in his own way on their birthdays, troll the celebrities who take a dig at India etc. Now, he has taken the social media platform to yet another level by helping Satish, who is a son of a farmer in Uttar Pradesh to get an artificial fitment.

Satish met with an accident last year and lost his right leg. His family tried their best to make their son walk again by selling their possessions in order to raise money for his medical expenses, but they have now been given a new lease on life thanks to the former Indian batsman.

On 31st October, Sehwag posted that his own foundation, Sehwag Foundation, along with Fever FM is open for donations on Twitter to help Satish stand again. The very next day, Bangalore-based healthcare group, ‘Otto Bock Healthcare India Private Limited’ came forward and offered him high-quality electronic microprocessor legs at a discounted price of 7.5 lakhs.

Sehwag’s kind-hearted gesture didn’t stop there as he continued to collect donations for Satish. A couple of days later, IndusBank came forward to help Satish walk again. Later that day, Indian Test captain Virat Kohli stepped in and pledged his fans to donate whatever they can  this noble cause.

Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, Chris Gayle, also showed his humanitarian side by pitching in with a contribution of his own.

Donation kept coming in as out-of-favour Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and opener Gautam Gambhir, who made a comeback to the Indian team after two years joined hands with their former teammate to help Satish live a normal life.

Sehwag’s hard work didn’t go waste as he announced that Satish will get an artificial leg today and was excited for him. It took just 11 days for him to collect the fund that is required to help Satish.

With Sehwag’s kind gesture and contributions from the outside world, Satish is set to walk again in few days’ time.
