VVS Laxman hails Sourav Ganguly's appointment as CAB President as a positive step for Indian cricket
VVS Laxman has put his weight behind former captain Sourav Ganguly on his being appointed President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), saying that the former cricketer’s move into administration is a positive step for Indian cricket, according to PTI.
Earlier, it had been reported that despite the CAB having three months to decide on who would replace Dalmiya, there was a unanimous vote to select Ganguly.
Laxman, who was talking on the sidelines of the practice sessions of the Bengal Ranji Trophy team, was appointed to the role of batting coach of his state’s team by Ganguly himself.
Laxman said, "It's Sourav who brought me here and I'm seeing him as an administrator for last one year. He's trying his best to take Bengal cricket forward.
"It's a great selection and a positive sign for the Indian cricket."
Ganguly had natural instinct to make wise decisions: Bahutule
Sairaj Bahutule, the coach of the Bengal team and also a former India cricketer, also put his vote of confidence in Ganguly’s competence.
"I've played under his captaincy and he has a natural instinct to take wise decision under any circumstances. I'm sure he will do well as a CAB president," Bahutule said.
An ecstatic Ganguly had said on the occasion of being named to the post: “I’m happy they made me the CAB President, I will try my best to live up to the position. Right now, I will be guided by the Board in the beginning and will try to implement my ideas during the tenure. It is a learning process, would like to thank everyone, who supported me.”
Sourav Ganguly's next stop should be BCCI chief, then ICC boss. Can't think of a better man in terms of leadership, integrity, aggression
