Wasim Akram shows his romantic side on the 'The Kapil Sharma Show'

Wasim Akram married Shaniera Thompson in 2013 and the couple is blessed with a baby girl

One of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Wasim Akram, recently showed that he can bowl a ‘maiden’ over off the field too when he displayed his romantic avatar in the famous ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ on Indian small screen.

The Pakistan cricket legend made a public appearance with his wife Shaniera on the Indian show, which will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television this weekend. Akram, who married his Australian girlfriend, Shaniera Thompson in 2013, is currently donning the bowling coach’s role for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2016.

According to sources, when the host Kapil Sharma asked the legend about his love story, Akram confessed that it was love at first sight for him. He also admitted that he had never actually proposed to anyone in his life, but with Shaniera, he knew he had to do it immediately.

The sources also added, “Then Wasim went down on his knees with flowers and a ring. He was ecstatic when she accepted his proposal. Shaniera responded by saying she will accept his proposal no matter how many times he proposes."

The 49-year-old's first wife Huma died in 2009 after multiple organ failures after the couple had two sons from their marriage of 15 years. Akram met Shaniera in Australia and the couple married on 12th August 2013 in a private ceremony. They were blessed with a baby girl on 27th December 2014.

Earlier, Shaniera disclosed another side of the ‘Sultan of Swing’ which won her heart. Earlier in a TV show in Pakistan, Shaniera revealed that Wasim Akram is more than just the 'Sultan of Swing' or an impeccable cricket commentator. She also admitted that it was Akram’s sense of humour that won her heart.

Wasim Akram had an outstanding career playing for the men in green in which he picked up close to 916 international wickets(502 in ODIs and 414 in Tests). He troubled most of the batsmen with his lethal pace and swing and he was one of those bowlers, who mastered the difficult art of reverse swing.

Akram, who is an eminent commentator nowadays, also enjoys his coaching role with the Kolkata Knight Riders. Once a nightmare for the batsmen, Akram surely knows the tricks of winning the heart of a lady.
