[Watch] 47-year-old Brett Lee dismisses Kamran Akmal in 1st over of Pakistan Champions innings in WCL 2024 match

Australia Champions captain Brett Lee led his team from the front in the powerplay of the World Championship of Legends match against Pakistan Champions. Lee dismissed opposition team opener Kamran Akmal in the first over itself with a fantastic outswinging delivery.

Brett Lee has maintained his fitness well, which is why he can bowl pace at the age of 47 as well. Although he retired from international cricket long back, Lee continues to be active in exhibition tournaments for retired cricketers.

Australia Champions named him as their captain for the inaugural edition of the World Championship of Legends, and Lee proved why he deserved to be captain with a fantastic performance in the powerplay.

On the fifth ball of Pakistan Champions' innings, Lee bowled an outswing wide outside off stump. Kamran Akmal tried to smash it over the cover region, but the ball went straight to Dan Christian, who made no mistake in taking the catch.

It is pertinent to note that Akmal hit a four off Lee's bowling in the same over, but the Australian legend bounced back by taking his opponent's wicket.

Brett Lee also dismissed Kamran Akmal's opening partner Sharjeel Khan in the powerplay

Lee did not stop after taking Akmal's wicket. The Australia Champions captain came back to bowl his second over in the powerplay, and in that over, he got the wicket of Sharjeel Khan.

Sharjeel tried to smash a ball from Lee over the fine leg boundary. Ben Cutting was guarding the boundary and took a straightforward catch.

Despite Brett's double strike in the powerplay, Pakistan Champions chased down the 191-run target set by Australia Champions at Edgbaston. Younis Khan's half-century (63 off 41 balls) and Misbah-ul-Haq's unbeaten 46 off 30 balls helped Pakistan Champions chase the target successfully in 19.4 overs. Shahid Afridi finished things off in style with a four off the fourth delivery of the final over.
