Watch: Ben Stokes does a ring walk at WWE
The 24-year-old English all-rounder Ben Stokes featured as a guest timekeeper at a certain WWE event that was held in Newcastle last Wednesday. The England international had recently endured one of the worst moments of his cricketing career when Carlos Brathwaite belted four consecutive sixes off his final over to win the ICC World T20 2016 for the Caribbean side.
Having said that, Stokes had earlier come into limelight back in 2015-16 when he smashed a 198 ball-258 against South Africa; a feat, which has made its way into the record book as the second fastest double century in the history of Test cricket, till date.
Hence, Ben Stoke's love for WWE doesn't really come as a surprise for his fans, courtesy his aggressive mentality on the cricket field. The 6 feet 1-inch tall English all-rounder is a self-proclaimed WWE enthusiast.
“I watched wrestling religiously as a kid growing up but I'm not too up-to-date with the new era. I'm all about Triple H, Kane, Big Show, Undertaker, Stone Cold and all those guys,” Stokes told the press.
The 24-year-old was introduced to a packed Newcastle wrestling arena with the help of a conventional heavy walk-on music. Also, as Stokes kept on walking towards the ring, a montage of some of his remarkable England moments was being played on the big screen.
The English all-rounder had- evidently- enjoyed every bit of his stay at the WWE arena, as he tweeted the following, soon after:
