[Watch] CSK fans' turbulent experience during IPL 2024 match vs RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans had a poor experience while attending the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 18).

It was a virtual knock-out match, as the winner was going to qualify for the playoffs, though RCB needed to win by a specific margin. Fans of both teams turned up in huge numbers to support their teams, given the importance of the contest.

A fan page of CSK side shared a video on Instagram to give everyone a glimpse of the turbulence encountered by the viewers supporting the yellow franchise at the stadium. In the video, we can see the stadium staff members arguing with the Chennai fans and also taking away a poster.

CSK lost the match against RCB by 27 runs despite cameos from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni

RCB batted first in the contest and notched up a daunting total of 218/5. CSK had to score over 201 to seal a playoff spot. The Super Kings came close to achieving that as they needed 17 runs off the last over.

MS Dhoni (25) then hit a six on the first ball of the last over to put his side in the driver's seat. However, things went south for CSK after that, as they got only run the rest of the over, resulting in their elimination from the tournament.

Many have been speculating about Dhoni's playing future after Chennai Super Kings bowed out in the league stage. Pakistan legend Wasim Akram gave his opinion on the matter during a discussion on Sportskeeda's Match ki Baat, saying:

“[On MS Dhoni’s future] I have a gut feeling, he’ll be done after this. Players like him come in a lifetime, it all depends on him. [On Memorable six] His legacy is not just that [110m] six, it’s something else. He’s done a lot for Indian cricket. He brought the mindset."

Akram added:

"As a captain, he brought calmness, played captaincy knocks, the way he became a finisher, the way he has groomed players, and showed consistency, so this will be his legacy. But, yes, for fans the last image will be that 110-metre six at his age, it’s incredible fitness. It will only be a glimpse of his legacy.”
