What's the story?

England batsman Jason Roy took an absolute blinder of a catch at the mid-wicket boundary against Chittagong Vikings. He pulled it out in the fourth ball of the eighth over when veteran leg spinner Alok Kapali was bowling. The wicket was of the well-set Yasir Ali.

In case you didn't know...

Match no. 40 of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League saw Sylhet Sixers lock horns with the Vikings at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. The former won the match rather comprehensively, and Roy's catch stood as a standout talking point.

The Englishman joined the squad recently, as a replacement for the injured David Warner. Although Roy didn't overly impress with the bat, he made up for it with a screamer of a catch.

The heart of the matter

Just when it looked liked Vikings were stitching together a fine partnership for the third wicket, Roy latched on to the ball that was initially traveling like a rocket.

Kapali bowled a very loose half-tracker, which was rightfully met by the willow-wielder. When it left the bat, it had six written all over it. But Jason Roy had other plans. He tracked the ball till the very end, back-peddled and never looked like getting there.

But the opener leapt at the right time and in full stretch, with one hand, took the catch. Roy is regarded as a world-class fielder by many observers, as he has also taken a few beauties in the Big Bash and for the national side.

Meanwhile, for a remarkable spell of 4-17 from his quota of four overs, Ebadat Hossain took away the Man of the Match accolade. Earlier in the first innings, Andre Fletcher had constructed a fine innings of 66.

Watch:

You will not see a better catch than that, for a long, long time.

What's next?

While Chittagong are on 3rd place in the table with 14 points from 12 games, the Sixers have only mustered 10 points. After a couple of games on February 2, the playoffs will commence on February 4.
