Rohit Sharma will return to Gabba on Saturday, December 14, to lead Team India in the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test. The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1 after the hosts beat India by 10 wickets in the day-night Test in Adelaide.
Rohit has happy memories of playing in Brisbane from the 2021 tour, scoring a gritty 44 while opening the batting.
The Men in Blue came into the final Test at Gabba with the series tied at 1-1. Australia posted 369 runs after deciding to bat first, riding on a scintillating hundred from Marnus Labuschagne (108).
In response, India scored 336 runs after Rohit gave them a solid start. Despite losing Shubman Gill at the other end, the ace batter looked at ease, dealing with Aussie bowlers comfortably. He batted for 70 deliveries for his 44, hitting six boundaries. Rohit was eventually dismissed by senior off-spinner Nathan Lyon.

Australia gained a 33-run lead in the first innings and scored 294 in the second essay to set a mammoth 328-run target for India to chase in the fourth innings.
The visitors breached Australia's fortress at Gabba, riding on a masterclass from Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 89 runs off 138 deliveries to take the team over the line after Shubman Gill (91) and Cheteshwar Pujara (56) set the tone. Washington Sundar also made useful contributions in the lower order, scoring 22 off 29 balls.
As a result, India won their second consecutive series down under by a 2-1 margin.

His best score of 63* came during the 2018 tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He has yet to score a Test hundred Down Under.
Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, has played only two Tests in Brisbane, scoring 83 runs at an average of 20.75.
