WATCH: Mitchell Santner's stunning Six to win the game for CSK
What’s the story?
Mitchell Santner was the unlikely hero for Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday at the Pink City as his last ball six helped CSK win the game against Rajasthan Royals.
In case you didn’t know
This is why fans love IPL and it rarely fails to deliver. The game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals produced a classic IPL encounter which had drama, controversy, and a stunning last six. Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first.
Though Royals got off to a good start, they struggled after their openers were dismissed. In the end, they posted a mediocre 151 runs in their quota of 20 overs. CSK got off to the worst start as they lost four wickets for just 24 runs. However, Dhoni and Rayudu played brilliant knocks to help Chennai win the game.
The heart of the matter
In reply to Royals' 151, CSK lost Watson, Faf du Plessis, Raina, and Jadhav within the first few overs. MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu stayed calm under pressure and forged a brilliant partnership.
The duo steadied the ship but Rayudu was dismissed in the 18th over. Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni took them close but Stokes dismissed Dhoni and CSK needed eight off three balls. It came down to the final ball as CSK needed three to win the game. Mitchell Santner, the Kiwi all-rounder, kept his cool under immense pressure and sent the ball over the long on fence for a six to seal the game for Chennai. It was a scintillating shot by the Kiwi star.
