[Watch] Shikhar Dhawan smashes three boundaries in a row during THY vs GUG match in Legends League Cricket 2024

Gujarat Greats' captain Shikhar Dhawan showed his class as he struck three consecutive boundaries in match number three of Legends League Cricket 2024 against Toyam Hyderabad on Sunday, September 22. The game took place at Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur.

In the fourth over of the innings bowled by Nuwan Pradeep, Dhawan unleashed a flurry of boundaries by hitting a four off the third ball to the third-man region. Off the next delivery, the southpaw played a superb shot over the infield for another boundary to deep extra cover. The 38-year-old struck yet another four off the following ball, making it three consecutive boundaries.

Chasing 173, Gujarat Greats openers Shikhar Dhawan and Morne van Wyk put together an 83-run partnership off 57 balls before the former was dismissed for 21 runs off 20 balls. Lendl Simmons scored 20 off 18 balls, but it was van Wyk who single-handedly won the game for the Greats.

The Proteas batter remained unbeaten on 115 runs off 69 balls, smashing eight fours and nine sixes as Gujarat won by eight wickets with three balls to spare.


Suresh Raina’s 44 guided Toyam Hyderabad to 172

Earlier in the game, Toyam Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first. Shannon Gabriel provided an early breakthrough for Gujarat by removing George Worker for 13 runs in the second over.

Soon after, Chadwick Walton was dismissed for 17 by Liam Plunkett. Shaun Marsh had a disappointing outing, scoring one run off three balls before Manan Sharma got rid of him.

Captain Suresh Raina was the standout performer for Hyderabad, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes. Gurkeerat Singh contributed 26 runs off 19 balls.

Meanwhile, in the later stages, Peter Trego showcased his power, remaining unbeaten on 36 runs off 25 balls, smashing two boundaries and two sixes as Hyderabad finished on 172/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Plunkett, Manan, and Seekkuge Prasanna took two wickets each for the Greats.
