[Watch] When Rohit Sharma hilariously forgot what to do after winning toss ahead of an ODI against New Zealand
Fans had frequently heard about Rohit Sharma’s tendency to forget things, but they witnessed it firsthand during the second ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand on January 21, 2023. The game was held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
After winning the toss, Sharma seemed momentarily puzzled, scratching his head as he struggled to remember what to do next. After a brief pause, he announced that his team would be bowling first.
Meanwhile, opposition captain Tom Latham and Indian players in the background, including Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj, shared a good laugh at the situation.
Here’s the video of the moment:
At the toss, Rohit addressed the situation by explaining that he had forgotten the decision due to the discussions in the dressing room. He said:
"I forgot for one minute because there was a lot of talk within the team group on what we wanted to do. At the end of the day, we want to challenge ourselves under difficult conditions as well. For a minute I forgot but we want to bowl first."
Meanwhile, the match turned out to be one-sided, as a superb bowling performance from the Indian bowlers saw New Zealand being dismissed for just 108. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.
In response, Rohit Sharma led the charge with an impressive 51 off 50 balls, guiding the Men in Blue to a convincing eight-wicket victory.
