Watson focusing on spin ahead of India tour
Sydney - Australian all-rounder Shane Watson is busy preparing for the India tour and says he is working specifically on tackling spin in the sub-continental conditions.
Watson scored 30 for Sutherland in his comeback game from a calf injury. He is hoping to make the most of the domestic game ahead of the four Test series in India, including a one-day game for New South Wales against Western Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
“I’ve been developing a few different game plans to be able to try and combat the spin (in India),” Watson was quoted as saying by ninemsn Tuesday.
“There’s no doubt that is one of the key factors to having success over there is playing well against the spin as well as the reversing ball.
“I’ve been working on a few technical things as I always am to continue to evolve my game.
“I certainly made the most of my time out, coming back to really try and nut a few of my technical things out as well to give me the best to be able to score consistent runs wherever I play.”
The injury-prone Watson has been rested for Australia’s first two One-day Internationals against the West Indies.
Watson, however, is open to playing at any level to get back into the groove.
“I just want to hopefully be fit enough to play any cricket that’s available.
“I’m as confident as I possibly can be (in my body).”
