Kingston (Jamaica), Feb 11 - Wavell Hinds, who ignored calls to step down at the height of an impasse with the West Indies team late last year, has been re-elected president of the West Indies Players Association (WIPA).

The former West Indies cricketer was re-elected unopposed at WIPA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) here, reports CMC.

He was involved in a bitter row with former West Indies One-Day International (ODI) captain Dwayne Bravo, who raised concerns over his role in a signed collective bargaining agreement between WIPA and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The dispute over the agreement led to the controversial decision by West Indies to cut short their tour of India.

The new WIPA vice-president is Nixon Mclean, who was previously the treasurer, a release from the WIPA said on Tuesday.

Wayne Lewis has retained his position as secretary while the new treasurer is former West Indies captain and wicketkeeper Ridley Jacobs. The newly elected assistant secretary is Windward Islands Volcanoes captain Liam Sebastien.
