"We are going to South Africa a confident lot", Shikhar Dhawan says India is ready to take on South Africa

India’s swashbuckling opener, Shikhar Dhawan, has created his own hallmark by his fire brand batting and his stylish mustache. However, his aggression is not only restricted to on field, his interviews have also been quite entertaining.

Talking to the media after thrashing the West Indies in the recently ended series, Shikhar Dhawan proclaimed that India is not afraid of the South Africa team and is all set to take on the Proteas.

“Nervousness has gone and we are going to South Africa a confident lot. We have done well in England (ICC Champions Trophy) and we will try to do well overseas again.”

The left hander said that the batsmen in the team are aware of the bouncy tracks that they will face in South Africa and they are mentally ready to face Dale Steyn and company.

“The wickets will be bouncy for sure but there is nothing to worry. The good thing is that we have played Australia (in a seven-match ODI series at home) and bowlers like Mitchell Johnson.”

India will be without Sachin Tendulkar for the first time in 24 years but Dhawan, who has scored 6 hundreds in all formats for India, said that India has enough experience in their ranks to put up a good fight.

“Sachin was a great player. His presence will be missed but we have a good side now. We are good in all three departments: batting, bowling and fielding.”
