We just made use of the home conditions: Andre Russell
Kolkata, May 1 (IANS)
After winning the man of the match award for his all-round performance, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell on Thursday said his side made good use of the home conditions at the Eden Gardens.
"My role was to play positive and a few balls hit the middle and went over cover, can't ask for a better start," Russell said after cracking a 32-ball 55 in a winning cause against Chennai Super Kings.
Replying to Chennai's challenging 165 for 9 at the Eden Gardens, the hosts reached a decisive 169 for three with one ball to spare to carve out a seven-wicket win.
I get to the ball and get excited: Russell
Uthappa (80; 58b, 7x4,1x6) and Russell put on 112 runs off only 64 balls during an unfinished fourth wicket stand to pilot the home side to victory from a position of bother when they were 57 for three in the tenth over.
"We were emphasising on watching the ball. My problem is sometimes I get to the ball and get excited, that's what he was reminding me of.
"We didn't have a lot of time to think after Chennai and we just made use of the home conditions," he said after the match.
