Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has said that his team will put their best foot forward in the upcoming World Cup and will look to make the entire nation proud by lifting the coveted trophy Down Under.

"We have only one thing in mind that is to play our best cricket in this event because we know how closely the World Cup is followed by everyone and the expectations attached with our team,” Misbah told the media in Lahore before departing for the World Cup.

Pakistan kick off their World Cup campaign in a high-octane encounter versus India on February 15 at the Adelaide Oval, and the 40-year-old said that the team knows the significance of the game and there’s no risk of them being underprepared for the game.

"We know how important this match is and we are going with a clear mind that we want to change history and beat India in a World Cup. We are focused for the match and the players are going to play with a lot of passion and commitment to try to win the match,” he said.

He further said that the team have had the best possible preparation for the event and added that this squad has the ability to go all the way.

"In a few hours we will be leaving for the World Cup and I think we have our best possible preparations for the World Cup and we are going with a positive mindset and try to win every match and the World Cup,” he added.

"We have only one thing in mind that is to play our best cricket in this event because we know how closely the World Cup is followed by everyone and the expectations attached with our team.

The 40-year-old acknowledged the fact that they will be coming up against teams as well prepared as them during the World Cup but was optimistic of the team having the wherewithal to go all the way.

"Every team has the backing of its nation and it comes well prepared to win the World Cup so it is going to be a tough challenge but I think we have the resources to meet this challenge.

"We are going there nearly three-and-a-half weeks in advance to acclimatise and get used to wickets and that is good enough and we have the resources to deal with every situation."
