West Indies seek Saqlain Mushtaq's aid to tackle Sachin Tendulkar

Saqlain Mushtaq appeals in a match against England

West Indies are touring India in late October for two tests. The series will also play host to batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar‘s highly anticipated 200th test match.

According to NDTV, The West Indies have gone all out to ensure that Tendulkar does not have a memorable 200th match, as they have consulted Pakistani spin wizard Saqlain Mushtaq to tackle the ‘master blaster’.

Mushtaq is currently in the Caribbean, sharing the tricks of his trade with the West Indies bowlers like Shane Shillingford, Devendra Bishoo and Ashley Nash.

“Touring India is always a challenge for any team and now that Sachin will be playing his 200th Test, the pressure will be more on the bowlers. At the moment, I’m assessing our (West Indian) spinners keeping all these factors in mind,” Saqlain was quoted as saying.

When asked about sharing some tips, he said:

“Read his body language and have patience. You need to judge him well and while bowling to Sachin, you will have to allow him to go for shots and then you need to counter back. That’s all I will be sharing with these spinners.”
