West Indies warm-up with 16-run win over Australia
Savar (Bangladesh), March 21 (IANS): The West Indies defeated Australia by 16 runs in their second warm-up match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No.3 Ground on Friday.
Batting first, the West Indies reached a total of 144/3 from their 20 overs which Australia struggled to chase down, falling 16 runs short at 128/7.
A powerful unbeaten knock of 78 from 48 balls by Deandra Dottin anchored the West Indies’ innings. Jess Jonassen was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/24 from her four overs with Ellyse Perry (1/26) picking up the only other wicket.
Delissa Kimmince was the top-scorer for Australia, finishing with 26 runs before she was stumped, while Alex Blackwell worked hard for her 23 runs before she was retired out. For the West Indies, spinner Anisa Mohammed picked up three wickets.
Australia will travel to Sylhet to play their first official match against New Zealand on Sunday.
