When MS Dhoni trolled a fan on Twitter for criticising his activities

The relationship between cricketers and the fans who idolise them has seen a big change with the rise of the social media, and many high-profile cricketers have been known to get into witty and humourous exchanges with their fans.

Fans always have an opinion on what their favourite cricketers they should do, and this is a problem when exchanges between them are so available. Players do not get any more high-profile or any wittier than India ODI captain MS Dhoni, and a fan discovered in 2012 that he is not somebody to be meddled with, in the hard way.

Glenn Maxwell was recently in the news for hitting back at fans who criticised his performance with the bat, but he is hardly the first cricketer in the world to have taken to the same recourse.

Back in 2012, MS Dhoni had tweeted a picture showing two snaps of himself, and he asked fans to try and spot the difference. Many tried, and the consensus seemed to be that it was a difference of hairstyle.

One fan, not entertained by the challenge of ‘spotting the difference’, asked the India captain to focus more on his batting than on the social media. The reply he got was probably not what he had expected.

As Team Director Ravi Shastri had said very recently,  you just don’t mess with legends like Dhoni.
