When Tabraiz Shamsi bamboozled his teammates with magic skills during washed out game between RCB and SRH

What’s the story?

During last night’s washed out game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, the fans kept waiting at the venue hoping that the rain would stop and they can cheer for their home team. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen as the rain gods refused to keep the showers away and as a result the match got abandoned.

Though the fans waited patiently in spite of the rains, the players witnessed few magic tricks from the South African chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi. When his RCB teammate Samuel Badree jokingly asked about his magic powers in an event organised by Puma, Shamsi admitted that he was performing some tricks for his teammates during the rain delay.

He said, “Yesterday when there was a rain delay I was doing some magic tricks for the boys. I know I bamboozled you (Badree), not just on the field (Badree quickly retorted "no you didn't") but off the field as well.”

Badree said, “ Yesterday he was doing a couple of tricks in the dressing room. He was pretty good actually, he made some coins disappear, he was good with the cards. I think Chris even told him to stop playing cricket and become a magician. Some advice you might take on board.”

In case you didn’t know...

Though this might be a surprise for a few, it is a well-known fact that Shamsi is a magician and used to entertain the people with his tricks. He was also mulling to become a full-time magician during his childhood but ended up taking cricket as his career.

Details

Badree, who was also a part of the event, praised Shamsi for what he did last night and also revealed that Chris Gayle suggested the South African to quit cricket and become a magician for which Shamsi said, he will see how far cricket takes him and will consider being a magician as a second career option.

What’s next?

With just five points from eight matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore are virtually out of the tournament. Now, they need to win all their matches to make it to the last-4. This is something the team has been used to as the Virat Kohli-led side had a similar scenario in the last edition.

They somehow managed to win five of their last six matches, as a result of which they made it to the finals, where they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team management and the fans will hope that something similar happens this year as well.

Author’s Take

All the cricketers have mastered some other art their second career option and it is good to see Shamsi picking something out of the box as his. Magic tricks are something that is loved by most of the people and the South African should consider becoming a magician once he decides to hang up his boots.
