When Virat Kohli was fined for showing his bat & uttering words at the umpire during 2016 T20 Asia Cup match vs Pakistan

During the 2016 T20 Asia Cup, Virat Kohli expressed his dissent against the umpire's decision after being given out against Pakistan in Dhaka. After admitting to the offense, Kohli was fined 30% of his match fees for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

The game was played on February 27, 2016, and saw Pakistan batting first. The Men in Green were bundled out for just 83, with Hardik Pandya taking three wickets.

Thereafter, Mohammad Amir was sensational with his triple strike, as India were stuttering at 8/3 in the third over. However, Kohli and Yuvraj Singh steadied the ship by finding odd boundaries and rotating the strike.

Their 66-run stand was ultimately broken by Mohammad Sami, who trapped Kohli LBW in the 15th over. Kohli expressed his displeasure with the decision by showing his bat and uttering a few words to the umpire while walking towards the dugout. As a result, he was fined by match referee Jeff Crowe.

Here's what the ICC said in a release at the time:

"The incident happened in the 15th over of India's innings when Kohli, after being given out leg before, displayed dissent by first showing his bat and then leaving the crease while looking back at the umpire and uttering some words that were contrary to the spirit of the game."

Nevertheless, Kohli's contribution of 49 off 51 had already put India on the brink of a victory. Yuvraj (14*) and MS Dhoni (7*) sealed the chase under 16 overs.
