Who is Brody Couch? 5 interesting facts about San Francisco Unicorns seamer who took 2-24 on MLC debut vs LA Knight Riders

Brody Couch grabbed headlines by bowling a match-winning spell on his Major League Cricket debut for the San Francisco Unicorns. The right-arm fast bowler returned figures of 2-24 to help the Unicorns beat the Los Angeles Knight Riders by six wickets in Texas on Monday.

Playing his first MLC match, Brody Couch opened the bowling for the Unicorns. He didn't disappoin, as he got rid of LAKR's Unmukt Chand in his second over. In the middle overs, Couch dismissed danger man Nitish Kumar caught to finish with 2-24 on debut.

Brody Couch is likely to achieve more success in the MLC. Before he turns up for the San Francisco Unicorns again, here's a list of five things to know about the right-arm pacer.

#1 Brody Couch is from Australia but moved to USA

Like many current USA players, Couch's cricket journey started in another country. He hails from Australia. In fact, the right-arm seamer also played for Victoria in a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales in 2021.

It proved to be the only first-class match of his career. The match ended in a draw. Couch bowled 12 overs in the game, picking up Daniel Hughes' wicket in the first innings.

#2 Brody Couch played his first major T20 in MLC since January 2023

Before the MLC match between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders, Couch's last T20 appearance came on January 14, 2023. He turned up for the Melbourne Stars against the Melbourne Renegades.

#4 Brody Couch made his List-A debut with Todd Murphy

Last year, spin bowler Todd Murphy came into the limelight after his impressive performances for Australia on their tour of India. Interestingly, Murphy and Couch started their List-A careers together.

Both bowlers received their maiden Victoria cap ahead of the List-A match against Tasmania on March 10, 2021. Although both debutants took a wicket each, Victoria lost that match.

#5 Couch made his T20 debut under Glenn Maxwell

Couch played his first T20 game on December 5, 2021. It was for the Glenn Maxwell-led Melbourne Stars against Moises Henriques' Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Sydney won by a huge margin of 152 runs. Debutant Couch dismissed Daniel Christian and Tom Curran to end with figures of 2-36, but his efforts ended in a losing cause.
