As mentioned earlier, Omkar Salvi is not new to the IPL setup. The 46-year-old has previously been a part of the league in a coaching capacity, having worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their assistant bowling coach.
KKR went on to win their third title in the history of the league in the 2024 season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Salvi was a part of KKR as their assistant bowling coach and thus, has already tasted success in the league.
#4 Successful stint with Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy
Mumbai are the most successful team in the history of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic tournament. Omkar Salvi served as the bowling coach for four seasons.
However, he recently took over as the head coach and led Mumbai to the Ranji Trophy title. Under Salvi, Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in eight years, clinching the title in the 2023-2024 season.

Avishkar Salvi is a former cricketer himself, having played as a pacer for the Indian team. Avishkar played four ODI matches for India and was also a part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) team in IPL 2009.
#1 Omkar Salvi played domestic cricket for Railways
Omkar Salvi is a former cricketer himself. While his coaching career has been filled with several accolades, his cricketing career was short and almost non-existent.
Salvi represented Railways and managed to play just a solitary List A game. His first and only List A game of his career came against Madhya Pradesh in 2005 at Indore.
He bowled six overs in that match and gave away 36 runs, managing to pick up just one wicket. Salvi played only two other games for the Railways (not List A). Both these matches came in 2009 against Air India and Orissa CA XI.
