Who Said What: World reacts to Karun Nair's sensational triple century

Less than a month ago, Karun Nair didn’t have a Test cap to his name. Today, he crushed several records on his way to a sensational triple century, only the second Indian to achieve this feat in 84 years. The declaration came before he could look to surpass Virender Sehwag’s two peaks at the top (309 & 319), but went past several Indian legends to end with the third best score for India in Tests. He changed gears after going past 200, going down on one knee and carting the bowlers to the leg side with different variants of the sweep shot, his preferred shot of the day.

After the epic knock, this is what he said:

“It is the best knock I have played in my life. There were many situations in the middle when I had to play differently with each of my partners: Rahul, Ashwin and Jadeja. They supported me well. to go on and get the runs. I think the pressure was off. The first hundred is always important. I was just playing my shot after that.

(On the sweep shot) I think sweep has come naturally for me, and I have played that a lot. It came off really well, and has been my go-to shot. My dad watches most of my games, so there was no extra pressure on me. They were proud of me.

(Message from the dressing room after getting 250): The message was to go after the bowling. We had set overs in mind. As I got closer, they pushed it a bit. Thanks to the team management for giving me more time to complete my triple century.

It is unlucky that Rahul didn't get 200, he’ll get one soon. The pitch isn’t easy for the batsmen, It is getting worse day by day. Hope it turns more tomorrow”.

Here’s how the world reacted to his record-breaking knock:
