South African all-rounder Albie Morkel has called it a day on his cricketing career by saying that he will 'enjoy the game from the other side'. Morkel was famous for his exploits batting down the order, and had become a household name in India after some match-winning performances for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Morkel made his international debut in the year 2005, and represented the Proteas in 58 ODIs, 50 T20Is and 1 Test match. He made his decision public with this tweet on social media.
Albie Morkel was known for his right-arm medium pace bowling apart from his explosive performances with the bat. He had been away from international cricket for a quite a while, but he had continued playing in the domestic competitions of South Africa. But, today he has ended his journey, which started way back in 1998/99 when Albie made his first class debut.
Morkel was a well-known IPL player and he played for 4 franchises, namely Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiant in the 9 seasons he was a part of the league.
Albie's last international game came back in 2015, and the South African made a lot of valuable contributions for his nation both with the bat and ball. He scalped 77 wickets in his international career.
