Who Said What: World reacts to Usman Khawaja's fifth Test ton

The pink-ball Test seems to have arrives as a breath of fresh air for the longest format, giving the fans enough reasons to flock to the stadium and witness Test cricket like never before. The Australians are undergoing a torrid summer, having lost the first two Tests of the three-match series. Before the Adelaide Test, South African skipper Faf du Plessis was embroiled in a ball-tampering controversy and had to part with his full match fees from the Hobart Test. In a clear statement of intent, and as a perfect reply to shut his critics, he scored a scintillating century on the first day of the Adelaide Test.

Australia’s Usman Khawaja readily responded with a sedate century, his fifth Test ton, to power the hosts past South Africa's first innings total. In a young career that started with a Test against England in 2011, Khawaja has impressed with his composure and shot selection. Recently however, he, along with Joe Burns, was left out of the final Test against Sri Lanka in the Test series as the Australian side failed to cope with the Lankan spin attack. With this century, Khawaja has cemented his place in the side and answered his critics in the best way possible.

On Friday, he forged a partnership with Steve Smith and patiently scored a century, taking 197 balls to reach the milestone. This was also Australia’s first century of the series.
