Who Said What: World reacts to Virat Kohli's century and India's domination on day one
The first ever Test at Indore was punctuated by India’s Test captain and vice-captain getting their side out of trouble, first by digging in and then coming through with their natural instincts on day one of the third Test between India and New Zealand.
Virat Kohli won the toss yet again and had no hesitations in batting first. Although India’s new-look opening partnership of Murali Vijay and Gautam Gambhir got off to a quick start, they couldn’t carry on as both were dismissed before lunch.
Cheteshwar Pujara continued his impressive series but fell nine short of his fifty, but then Rahane and Kohli took over as the pair put on an unbeaten 167 for the fourth wicket to see India through till the end of the day without any further loss of wickets.

In the process of their partnership, Virat Kohli brought up his 13th Test century and first at home since 2013 and Ajinkya Rahane became the 36th Indian to cross 2,000 Test runs as he brought up another fifty. Rahane, in particular, looked shaky against the short ball but came through in the end as he hung on till the close of play.
Here are the reactions from the cricket fraternity:
