Why did Chris Gayle name his daughter 'Blush'? Reasoning it out
The news of Chris Gayle becoming a father came as a happy one for many. After all, the party man now becomes a ‘parent man’. For someone who likes to have so much fun, it remains to be seen how his life would shape after becoming a parent. Will we see a more restrained Chris Gayle? Only time will tell.
However, we are not here for that. First of all, we would like to congratulate Chris Gayle for the greatest achievement of his life: becoming the father of a baby girl.
Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience. For one, one fully realizes what true and selfless love is. In a world where everything changes constantly and nothing really can be labeled as our own, a child is the closest thing one can hold to themselves.
For every parent, the first duty is to name the child. And Chris Gayle has done a top-notch job at that.
Just some months ago, Chris Gayle became the target of some serious controversy when he hit on Mel McLaughlin. The Australian reporter was taken aback by the West Indian’s flirtatious attempts and her embarrassment was apparent, to which the Calypso King responded with: “don’t blush, baby.”
After that, hell broke loose on him as many criticized his unprofessional behavior. Most of the feminists had a field day and Chris Gayle became the worst thing to happen to cricket since Navjot Singh Siddhu’s commentary.
The dashing opener issued an apology later to calm things down…before stirring some wind up again.
Of all the names in the world, the man from Caribbean Islands named his daughter ‘Blush’—and now people are once again back to where they were 3 months ago.
Going with the trend is the real trend and hence, we are also doing the same: why did Chris Gayle name his daughter that?
Just a random choice
Perhaps, this is it. He named his daughter Blush because he felt it was unique and had a ring to it (which it does, honestly). However, knowing Chris Gayle’s flamboyance, we don’t think this could be a random choice, but…
It was a long day/night yesterday for Dr. Gayle. I think today I can treat myself to a Cigar & a . #SpecialMoment

Because he doesn’t care
The man got too much flare for the blush saga. Yes, he should not have hit on a reporter like that on live television, but the hate he got for it was way overboard.
He might not have shown much, but the excessive criticism might have annoyed him in more ways than we could know of.
And hence, to show that he doesn’t give a flying toss about the world’s jabs at him, he named his daughter ‘Blush’. How does this show that he doesn’t care and that his haters can go to, as Wonder Woman says, ‘Hades’? Simple. People are once again talking about the saga while he is chilling with his newborn with a big grin on his face.
However, he could care and…
He takes it all as a big joke
West Indians are known for their light-hearted nature. Indeed, they are almost always smiling and dancing and partying even in the most adverse of conditions.
Their cricket team is a perfect example of that.
The West Indies Cricket Board is as supportive to its players as most third-world countries are towards its women (which is almost null), yet the players bring them glory and fame by winning major tournaments. As Darren Sammy revealed in his post-World T20 winning press conference, the players didn’t even have their own jerseys when they arrived in India to play the tournament.
And still, they were playing with joyous faces—and spread it all around when they won the World Cup. This shows the size of the hearts of these people—and Chris Gayle is one of them.
The man is always in a relaxed and chilled mood and contagiously spreads that around the dressing room. Who is to say that he wasn’t just as chirpy when the whole blush-saga burst out in the media? And who is to say that he did not name his daughter as a sign to show that he took it all as a big joke?
This is perhaps the likeliest of reasons for him to name his daughter that. In such an auspicious event, he and his family are all in smiles and he capped it off by naming the little kid ‘Blush’—the source of his laughter.
Whatever the reason might be, one thing is assured: Chris Gayle is the happiest man in the world right now and we hope and wish that happiness always stays with him. Congrats, Universe Boss!
