It was a dream day for the batsmen in the first ODI between England and West Indies at Barbados. West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and elected to bat first. The home team had a slow start, but then picked up the pace later.

Jamaican batsman, Chris Gayle made his return to the team with a stunning show. He starred in the innings in his usual way. Gayle took the first 12 runs in singles and didn't hit even a single boundary in the first power play. Then began the assault, as the Jamaican began hitting sixes out of the ground. Hope, Hetmyer, and Bravo gave him their full support, as Chris Gayle registered his 24th ODI century. West Indies posted a record total of 360 runs.

In reply, England's Jason Roy and Root smashed a century each, which helped the visitors chase their highest ever score in ODI cricket history. There were a few world records broken during the match. Let's take a look at three of them:

#1 First cricketer to hit 100 Sixes against a team

Before the game, Indian opener Rohit Sharma held the record of hitting the most number of sixes against an opponent in international cricket. Rohit had registered 89 sixes against Australia.

Yesterday, when Gayle smashed the second six of his innings, he took back the record from Rohit at 90 sixes against England. The tall Jamaican didn't stop there, as he kept hitting sixes. Finally, he ended his innings with 12 Sixes to his name.

Thus, he became the first cricketer to smash 100 sixes against an opponent in international cricket. However, the feat might be broken soon, as Rohit is set to play seven international matches against Australia before the World Cup 2019.
