Woman plays for men's team; creates cricket history
27-year-old Charlotte Bascombe has made cricket history after becoming the first woman in Scotland to play for a men’s XI team. She represented Royal High Corstorphine’s (RHC) in a game against Grange.
She took three catches and scored 10 runs while facing the likes of Gordon Goudie, who is an international player for the Scotland men’s national cricket team.
A student of Murrayfield DAFS Club in Edinburgh, Charlotte has appeared for the Scottish Wildcats and has played in men’s domestic leagues ever since her family moved to Scotland.
Born in Yorkshire, England, Charlotte featured for the Under-13 Yorkshire team and Under-15 Nottinghamshire team, after which he became involved with the Scotland national women’s cricket team.
She has featured in 41 ODIs and 1 T20 for Scotland.
