After an invigorating 2 months, the 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup has ended with the hosts, England, winning the title. England and New Zealand were the 2 sides who battled in the final which saw England lift the trophy, thanks to their higher number of boundaries after the scores were tied even after a Super Over. However, New Zealand deserve equal respect, as they never lost hope and kept on fighting till the last ball.

This edition proved an emotional one for the cricketing universe, as various cricket stars bid adieu to the game. Some players have publicly confirmed their retirement, whereas some stars may take the hardest decision of their career soon. South Africa did not have a great World Cup campaign in 2019, as the team fared poorly in the mega-event. The side which had a plethora of experienced cricketers got only 7 points on the table. However, the younger players of the team tried to give the team’s veteran all-rounder, JP Duminy a fitting farewell in the game against Australia. 

After a career spanning over 15 years, Proteas all-rounder Jean-Paul Duminy has announced his retirement from the world of cricket. Duminy retired with over 8000 runs and 132 wickets under his name in the 3 formats of the game. He made his debut in the year 2004, and played his last international match on 6 July 2019, providing the best of his services to the rainbow nation in that time period.
