Who will be the top run scorer of the 2019 World Cup?

The 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup is all set to end tomorrow as the hosts England and New Zealand will collide in the final match of the tournament at Lord’s. This edition proved unlucky for the Indian team because they could not qualify for the final despite playing well in the tournament. However, they won the hearts of the entire world with their fighting spirit.

With just 1 match left, the charts of most runs scored may not fluctuate in much as only Joe Root and Kane Williamson can move up the board. Rohit Sharma is holding the top position, followed by Australia’s David Warner at number 2. Here’s a look at the 3 batsmen who may end up winning the title of scoring the most runs:

Even though India could not qualify for the final, there was one man who tried his best to take his team on the winning side. Rohit Sharma, the right-handed opener broke multiple all-time World Cup records to help team India reach so far as they did. The batsman from Mumbai scored 648 runs in just 9 matches which showcases his class.

The Hitman hit 5 centuries in the tournament, of which 4 took the Men in Blue home. He has a strong chance to clinch the title of the best batsman in the 2019 World Cup.

Joe Root (England)

England became the 2nd team to qualify for the finals after they outplayed the Australian side in the 2nd semi-final. One of the main reasons behind England’s success in this World Cup is their star player, Joe Root. The right-handed batsman has been the backbone of his side with his mind-boggling form in the tournament.

Root has already smashed 549 runs from 10 matches which keeps him in the race for the title. He can overtake Rohit Sharma if he slams a century in the final match against New Zealand.

Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

New Zealand’s brilliance helped them defeat India in the must-win semi-final game. Kane Williamson’s brilliant captaincy has been the reason for it as he has used his resources to perfection. Apart from his captaincy role, he has also piled up a mountain of runs with his bat which has helped him become New Zealand’s top batsman in the 2019 World Cup.

The right-handed batsman has scored 548 runs and needs to get a minimum score of 101 runs in the final to top the ladder.
