With ODI cricket having shown a paradigm shift in the scales which have clearly tilted in the favor of the batsmen, it's the bowlers who have had to adapt to the constant innovations from the batsmen.

In times like these, you need to think as a bowler and have variations to bamboozle and outsmart the batsmen. Being Orthodox means being predictable in today's time and survival becomes difficult for such bowlers.

Yasir Shah and Devendra Bishoo are a couple of them who seem to have been caught in this transition and are in complete doldrums.

Both seem to have got a similar issue of bowling traditional leg spin in ODI cricket and hence they have been found out. As leg-spinners, one would generally have googlies. flippers and many more variations in their armory. Both these bowlers do possess a couple of these variations but it is questionable as to why they don't use them so often in ODI cricket.

However they haven't played many games, but from whatever they have, it is enough to indicate where they stand and what they are possibly heading towards.

Both are in their 30s and with their stats going downwards, the end could be in sight for them in this format of the game.

Here are the comparative stats of each player in ODI and Test Cricket.

Yasir Shah:

The 32 - year old hasn't had many chances coming his way but whenever he has, he has failed to capitalize on them. With Shadab Khan doing a lot better than him, it will be safe that he doesn't have a longer road to travel.

Devendra Bishoo:

Bishoo has been quite lucky with the fact that there aren't many leg spinners coming up the ranks in the Carribean. So he hasn't had much of a competition and thus been able to hold onto his place despite some gruesome performances.

When you compare their stats to Test cricket, where the line, length, and consistency are the key, they have generally excelled because their style of bowling is perfectly suited for that.

Time is fast running out for such spinners and it wouldn't be long before they are extinct in this format of the game especially with the likes of Rashid Khan, Shadab Khan and many such talented spinners showcasing their skills to stay synchronized with the game.
