IPL 2019: The youngest and oldest player from each team
The latest installment of the IPL is less than 3 weeks away and all the teams are gearing up for a challenging season ahead. Teams have done their level best to form a strong squad by picking up players according to their needs at the auction. Also, teams spent huge bucks on some lesser known young Indian domestic players.
T20 was considered to be a young man's game in its initial years. But with time, the experienced players have shown their worth.
This has compelled the teams to form a nice blend of youth and experience in their squads. Even though the focus has been on getting in young dynamic players, there has been a conscious effort of including experienced players too.
We are into the 12th season of the IPL and when we look at the list of players who are the oldest in the respective teams, there are a lot of players who were once, and some of them still are, the icons of the IPL.
Here we will look at the youngest and oldest player from each team in IPL 2019.
#8 Chennai Superkings
Oldest Player - Imran Tahir (39 years)
Imran Tahir has been the premier spinner in South Africa's ODI setup for years, but he got his chance in the IPL only in 2014. The leg-spinner has been fairly successful in the IPL taking 53 wickets in just 38 matches.
Tahir was especially impressive in IPL 2017 where he took 18 wickets in just 12 matches playing for Rising Pune Supergiant. He was then bought by Chennai Super Kings at the 2018 IPL auction. Unfortunately, he had a mediocre season playing for CSK picking up just 6 wickets in 6 matches giving away runs at an economy of 9.09 runs per over.
Youngest player - Ruturaj Gaikwad (22 years)
Ruturaj Gaikwad was one of the few players bought by CSK at the auction this year. Gaikwad plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket and has a T20 strike-rate of 131.29. Gaikwad has also represented India A. He'll be looking to make an impression and maybe grab a first-team spot in the CSK starting eleven this season.
