Yuvraj Singh – Not merely a fighter but a crusader!
During the last 13 years, the fans of Yuvraj Singh have seen him going through many different phases of life. From sitting on the bench, to giving a tough fight to the deadly disease of cancer. He is definitely bold enough to set an example for many of the newcomers.
On Tuesday, Yuvraj has once again showed his commitment towards social causes. He participated in a campaign against cancer in Kolkata. Manisha Koirala and Yuvraj have accepted that they have become a symbol for the fight against cancer. We appreciate the initiative taken by them.
After being inducted in team India, Yuvraj is surely a very happy man. And obviously, he would put in all out efforts to fulfill the high hopes of the selectors as well as the millions of fans. But there is an old saying that as your rights increase so do your responsibilities. Yuvraj has got to outshine others to prove his mettle. Marginal contributions with the bat will not serve the purpose as the competition is really stiff.
Being a senior player having a lot of international experience, he will have to exhibit an excellent performance as everyone will be anxiously waiting to see him strike. Patience is going to be the key word for Yuvraj Singh, especially while playing in the ODIs.
In fact, in all the matches against Australia, the Indian batsmen will have to bat wisely. After beating England, Australia’s moral is already high. They have got a good bowling attack which can put any opponent in distress.
Also, off late, Yuvraj did not play much of a role with the ball in the challenger trophy. In the need of hour, his abilities as the fifth bowler will also be tested! Though he is in the best of his fitness, especially after the French mission, but he has got to face a lot of challenges. His battle will not only be against the touring team, but also against the youngsters waiting in the wings. Yuvraj will have to work really hard to sustain his place in the side.
In fact, his participation in the challenger trophy proved vital for him, as he was able to assess his mental and physical condition. Also, on the psychological front, successfully executing the responsibility of a skipper and lifting the title must have worked as a thrust for his morale. It is worthwhile to mention that this win laid the foundation for his comeback, as media portrayed all the truthful praise for him.
Hopefully, with the zeal and enthusiasm seen in the efforts of Yuvraj on and off the field, he will give us a thrilling performance and India will have a permanent solution to its middle order worries.
In the past, he has played spinners and fast bowlers with equal ease. Also, he does not fear the short ball as some other Indians do. This could be a key factor.
His bowling and fielding can prove to be an added bonus for the team, especially in ensuring the right balance of the XI. On the slow Indian pitches, he can certainly curtail the run flow, even if he cannot pick up wickets. His presence in the team will certainly infuse a new energy among the players, especially the youngsters.
He should just try to give his natural aggressive performance out there and stay focused. Once he gets the rhythm, sky is the limit for this brave man. And today, Yuvraj have become synonymous to the word bravery. Waiting for the fireworks!
