Yuvraj Singh wants Akshay Kumar to star in his biopic
Yuvraj Singh has lived a life that has all the elements of an ideal Bollywood flick. From the peak of taking his country to a World Cup win after 28 years and being the best player of the tournament, to the low of being diagnosed with Lung Cancer at a young age, Yuvraj’s life has seen a lot of twists and turns.
Even his romantic life hasn’t been an ordinary one; given he has reportedly been associated with well-known actresses during various stages of his life. In fact very recently, Yuvraj has revealed the actor who he would like to play his role whenever a biopic on Yuvraj’s life is made.
In a chat show with his childhood friend, Neha Dhupia, the flamboyant Punjabi cricketer has mentioned that he would like Akshay Kumar to play his role ‘as they are both Punjabis’.
The 34-year, who recently got married to model-turned-actress Hazel Keech, said on the talk-show, ”Well I don’t know who relates to me the best but as a Punjabi boy I think Akshay fits in that category.”
Having said that, Yuvraj isn’t really keen on a biopic made on his life since he feels ‘it’s too personal’, but isn’t completely averse to the idea. Yuvraj further said that he would want his biopic to be made once he hangs his boots, and not while he is an active cricketer.
“Biopic is very personal. I am not sure if I would like to go for it…someday when I decide to hang my boots and sit on it, I may(think about it)...not at the moment…,” Yuvraj mentioned.

According to Yuvraj, Akshay Kumar isn’t the only actor who the cricketer would want to star in his biopic. Aditya Roy Kapoor, the actor who made his name after starring in movies like Aashiqui 2, is another player who is fit to play Yuvraj Singh.
In recent times, there has been a surge of biopics made on the lives of famous sports personalities. The trend began from Chak de India, a movie inspired by the life of a former Hockey goalkeeper, Mir Ranjan Negi. More recently, movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and MS Dhoni – The Untold Story were received well by the audience, garnering huge Box Office collections.
The biopic next in line is one on the life of the greatest batsman of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, and it is called Sachin: A Billion Dreams. It will be interesting to see whether Tendulkar’s biopic can break the records made by MS Dhoni’s biopic that starred Sushant Singh Rajput.
