Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill turned 25 last Sunday (September 8). Popularly known as the Prince of Indian cricket, Gill celebrated his birthday with his close friends and family.
His IPL franchise GT organized a huge celebration for Gill's fans at the Box Park in Ahmedabad, with hundreds of fans turning up.
Shubman Gill made his international debut at the senior level in 2019, and in five years, he has already played three ICC finals for India. He has been in the limelight for a long time, but here's a list of five facts which most of the fans might still not know about Gill.

#1 Yuvraj Singh suggested Shubman Gill to join Gujarat Titans
Shubman Gill started his IPL career as a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player in 2018. He remained with KKR till 2021 before switching to Gujarat Titans in 2022. GT signed him in the pre-season draft. On an episode of 'GK meets GT' in 2023, Gill revealed that it was Yuvraj Singh who first advised him to join the franchise.
"Yuvraj Singh told me to join Gujarat Titans. He called me. The second call was from Gurkeerat Maan. Yuvi paaji said that they are interested in signing you. What do you want to do? He told me that it's a great setup and I'll learn a lot," Gill said. (6:42)
Gill mentioned that his relationship with Hardik Pandya also helped him make the decision to join GT before the mega auction.
#2 Shubman Gill never fielded at short leg or silly point in domestic cricket
Gill has been a regular member of India's Test team in recent years. He often has to field at the silly point and short leg regions when needed.
On the same podcast with Gaurav Kapoor, Gill said he had no experience of fielding so close to the batters. He added that during the series against England in 2021, he prayed that the ball did not hit him. The batter also joked that he had never jumped so much in his life prior to that series.
#3 Shubman Gill enjoys batting against Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer is one of the most feared fast bowlers in modern day cricket. His pace has troubled several batters and many avoid facing him. Even Gill once said in an interview with JioCinema that Archer was the most dangerous bowler in IPL.
However, in his chat with Gaurav Kapoor, Gill said he enjoyed batting against Archer. The Prince of Indian cricket further said if there's one bowler agaist whom he likes to hit a four on the first ball, it's Archer.
#4 Shubman Gill's cheat meal is Butter Chicken
Looking at Gill's physique, it is evident that the star Indian opener follows a strict diet and workout routine. However, he also takes days off from work and allows himself some cheat meals.
In a rapid fire round with JioCinema during IPL 2023, Gill was asked about his cheat meal. The Gujarat Titans star replied:
"Butter Chicken with Laccha Paratha."
#5 Gill ends up sleeping during movies
During another rapid fire round at the Indian Sports Honors last year, Gill was asked to name the player who'd doze off while watching a movie.
Interestingly, the 25-year-old picked himself and said if he does not enjoy the movie, he ends up sleeping. Gill also said he preferred playing video games over watching Instagram reels on his phone.
