Yuvraj Singh visits Virender Sehwag's sports academy and interacts with students

Yuvraj and Sehwag have not played for the national team for more than a year

Yuvraj Singh recently took time out to pay a visit to good friend and former national teammate Virender Sehwag’s sports academy, The Indian Express reports. Yuvraj was accompanied by Sehwag himself and they spent time chatting with the students and shared cricketing tips with the youngsters.

The former Delhi skipper founded the Sehwag International School and Sports Academy  at Jhajjar in the state of Haryana on the piece of land he was offered in 2007 by the then state chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as a reward for his knock of 319 against South Africa. Though the state’s offer was primarily for a sports academy alone, Sehwag followed his father’s ambition and build the campus as a school-cum-sports academy.

"This is my father's dream, not mine. I never thought I could open a school. When I was growing up, I was travelling almost five hours a day for cricket coaching. My father told me, if you become a player and earn some money, open such an institution where kids can study, stay and play as well," Sehwag had said, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.

Sehwag and Yuvraj are two of India’s greatest match-winners in recent history. Today marks the eighth anniversary of India's triumph at the maiden T20 World Cup in 2007, a tournament which Yuvraj lighted up with his magnificent performances, including hitting English fast bowler Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.

The two cricketers took to their respective Facebook pages to post about the visit. The duo engaged in talks with the students and staff of the institution and didn’t shy away from posing for pictures with their eager fans.

Was a pleasure meeting the students and staff of Sehwag International School & Sports Academy and the great founder Virender Sehwag.
