Zaheer Khan to train with Gary Kirsten in South Africa
Indian pace bowler Zaheer Khan has decided to train with former India coach Gary Kirsten in an attempt to get back into the Indian set up again.
The 34-year-old left arm paceman, who returned home last month after completing a onerous six-week training in France along with Yuvraj Singh, has made his intentions clear that he will leave no stones unturned to get back his lost spot in the Indian team.
Zaheer’s mentor Sudhir Naik was quoted as saying to a national daily by NDTV: “Zaheer will be travelling to Cape Town to work with Kirsten for three weeks. He was to leave on September 6, but he still has to get his visa. Once that happens he will be off. There he will primarily work on his fielding and bowling.”
Zaheer, a veteran of 88 Tests, last represented India against England in the 3rd Test of the home series in December 2012. He was dropped by the selectors from the squad after the Test match, citing poor form and lack of fitness as a reason.
